3D Animation

Image
This is a small animation I made. I did not create or rig the model. I did model the sword and the stone it is inserted into.  Date - 12/14/12 Tools - Autodesk Maya Another short animation that I made in a group of four students. I modeled several of the assets found throughout the animation and helped with animation of the baby and the lighting in the room. Tools - Atuodesk Maya, Audacity The next three videos are cut-scenes for a game I designed in a group of four in my Games I/II classes. The game is called Reflect. In addition to modelling the majority of the assets scene in each video, I also did the majority of the animation and sound effects. I also planned out the story of the game as well as the overall design for several of the levels. I did not rig the model or program the game. The first video is the introductory sequence for the game and the two that follow are the game's "Bad" and "Good" endings, respectively.  Tools - Autodesk May...

Video Editing

Image
These are samples of my video editing skills. I utilized Final Cut pro, After Effects, Premiere, and Audacity, The videos are also in order from oldest to most recent so you can see how my skills evolved over time. The first video is a very campy trailer for an action movie called urban samurai. It was the very first attempt at video editing complete with effects and an audio track. The second video was made for a TV studio class that I took. It features a segment on DIY dormitory decoration. The final video is an unused segment from my senior thesis project - the augmented reality novella. It features some of the most complex work that I had done in After Effects during my time in college.

Augmented Reality Novella

Image
This video is just a small demonstration of the augmented reality novella I made for my senior thesis project with my two partners. It was an idea I came up with in order to best utilize all of our talents while allowing all three of us to do what we were most interested in and including a strong and unique layer of interactivity. It highlights my skills in team leadership as well as writing, video editing, directing, After Effects, story-boarding, creative ingenuity, and even some acting. I could have just posted some of the original files or static images, but I feel the magic of the project is only expressed when you see all the elements come together. Chris Gregoria was my writing partner and co-star, and Danny Shaw was the videographer who handled most of the major graphics work and also did much of the filming. All three of us worked on directing and editing.  Date - 5/2014 Tools used - After Effects, Photoshop, Premiere, Hp Reveal. Medium - Youtube

The conclusion to my independent study analyzing interactive storytelling styles across different cultures. Size = 1416 words 15.7kb Date - 11/22/15 Medium - Microsoft Word Geoffrey Epstein Independent Study Conclusion paper 11/22/15             The purpose of my independent study was to analyze three different examples of interactive storytelling from three separate cultures in order to understand the distinctions between the way each culture handles storytelling through an interactive medium. I hoped to understand the effects of storytelling in each culture, which thematic elements are most significant, and how each culture translates their beliefs into modern works. I chose to analyze Tales of Xillia , from the Japanese Namco Tales Studio; Bioshock , and to a lesser extent Bioshock: Infinite , from American game developers Irrational Games; and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt , from Polish studio CD Projekt Red.
